Princess Talk

Dear Ava, Yesterday and today you have been home from school with a fever and a cold. I printed off a packet of Princess Sofia stuff from disneyjr.com for you to do in between all the resting. One of the activities was to answer some questions about being a princess. Here are your answers... :-) What would you love the most about being a princess? "Giving care and love and playing and not being greedy!" If you could have a magical princess power, what would it be? "Just magic" What do princesses do? "Help people and help clean up things. Help set the table for tea parties." Who is your favorite Disney princess? "Snow White" What makes you like a princess? "Cause mommy and daddy call me it!" Imagine you could have your own royal ball. What would your party be like? "Fun and good. There would even be dog games and people games." If you could design your own royal crown or tiara what would it look like? "Sparkles and jewels with pink and purple and blue!" What can you do to be kind to animals? "Take care of their boo-boos" What do you wish for when you wish upon a star? "That when I grown up I can get married."

Christmas Angel

Dear Ava, Today was your "dress rehersale" Christmas program at school. Saturday evening is the "real" show, but today was just as fun! Me and daddy and nana and papa were there to cheer you on. You and your classmates were the cutest angels I've ever seen! It was a good little play and I really am so excited for many more to come in future school years! Love, Mama

Happy Halloween

Dear Ava, HAPPY HALLOWEEN!! If you haven't figured it out yet, you will soon...mama LOVES Halloween! Maybe a little too much. This year was extra fun. I think Halloween is probably the most fun when you are between the ages of 4 and 8 :-) This year you were a cowgirl and I must say, for being a thrown-together-with-stuff-from-home type costume it was awesome! Here's a picture...
Super cute. We started the day with your kindergarten class party. It was of course a blast! There were tables lined up in the gym to trick-or-treat at and you got tons of goodies (my favorite was the new toothbrush!). In your classroom we had snacks and played games like pin the nose on the pumpkin and balancing marshmallow ghosts on spoons. You decided that you didn't want to play any of the games because you were "a big girl" and really should help me and the other moms. Oy vey girlfriend! After games you kids decorated mini gourds from Mrs. Psycher. It was only a half day of school which was nice cause you and I got to come home and watch some fun Halloween movies (Twitches & Halloweentown)! Later this afternoon we carved jack-o-lanterns. You made a really cute pumpkin face and I made Frankenstein. Here they are...
You also did a little visiting with assorted family in the early evening instead of "real" trick-or-treating. After all that excitement you were asking to go to bed at 8pm :-) I hope you had a wonderful Halloween! I know I did. It was one of the best I can remember because I got to share the whole day and all the festivities with you <3 Love, Mama

Open House Party!

Dear Ava, Tonight is your open house at school! You get to show us your classroom and all your things! There is also a "Christian illusionist" which is a magic show, and a book fair and a pizza party! Talk about an awesome Friday night! You have been doing so great in school, I can't even believe it. You have taken right off and are blossoming every day. Your classmates all seem to just love you! You keep missing out on the fun at recess though because you are afraid of the bees. That is so silly and you know it missy! I know we will have so much fun tonight! And of course I will buy you books :-) Love, Mama

Dear Ava, Well, we made it through your first full week of kindergarten!! You are doing sooo great! I knew you would love school...you are so excited to go each day and even ask to go on the weekends. I miss you a lot while you are gone during the day, but I know you are having so much fun making friends and learning new things. I hope your love of learning will continue as you grow up. You are so smart I know you will continue to do great!!

Bambi

Dear Ava, Tonight we watched Bambi on Disney Junior. This was probably your 5th or 6th time watching it - we have it on DVD. Being the over-protective mom I tend to be at times I would always fast-forward through the sad/scary parts because I know how tender-hearted you are towards animals. Well, when it is on TV the DVD can't "accidentally" skip to the next scene like it usually does. You were not very happy to discover these new scenes. In turns you were yelling, crying, and often asking me tricky questions like "Why did they get all silly around the girl animals?" and "Do all animals get to go to Heaven or just the ones who have Jesus in their heart?" Sweetie, I wish I could answer that for you but I can't. I can only hope that there will be animals in heaven...there would have to be right?! As for why the boys got all silly around the girls...well that is something we can chat about when you are older - like 20, ok? For now just enjoy the movies for what they are and I promise I will keep skipping through the "bad" scenes for as long as you want me to - even when you are 20. Love, Mama

Preschool Graduation

Dear Ava, Today you are graduating from Loving Arms Christan Preschool. You have had such an amazing year making new friends and learning all kinds of things! Miss Jackie and Miss Sharon have been great teachers and I know you will miss them, and all of your friends. Maybe this summer we can have some of them over, that would be fun. Last year at the 3-year-old graduation you were super-dooper sick :-( You were running a fever of 103 and you were totally spaced out. It was so sad...you didn't even get to participate in the songs with your classmates or walk up to get your certificate. I've been praying for you to remain healthy today so you can participate this year and have enjoy graduation. I'm sure you are probably wondering "what's next?" and I wish I could tell you. As of now, your dad and I are still prayerfully considering where to send you for kindergarten, or if we should even send you at all. Whatever we decide, I know you will be just fine. Love, Mama
